If you are thinking about doing some arts and crafts then why not try making some signs. They are very easy to make and you can come up with ideas just about anywhere you look. Another sign that we use to make said "Slugs For Sale - U- Pick". You see in Willamette Valley we have a lot of slugs so the sign went over very well.
Some other signs we made said "An Old Rooster And A Young Chick Live Here", and "WARNING! Attack Cat On Duty". Just use your imagination and you can come up with many different sayings.
How To Make The Signs
All you need to make it is 2 pieces of wood. We mainly used pine. Cut both pieces from a 1 X 12 piece of pine. You will need to determine the length by what size you want the letters. I used a 1-inch stencil. Sand the edges and top and bottom of the wood before you put your letters on.
Make a template with the words and then all you have to do is trace the letters on. Use a black permanent marking pen for the letters. Paint some flowers in the corners and finish with a good exterior varnish.
Make a stake to attach the sign to with screws. These wooden signs are very easy to make and people just love them.
When we first started out with them we made 10 signs. They sold out within 30 minutes. We kept increasing the amount we made for each show. One of our best shows was coming up so I decided to make 50 of them. Well needless to say they were gone within 1 hour and people were coming back to get one. They had seen them when they walked through the show and then decided to come back and get one. I don’t know how many orders I took for the wood garden sign but it was a lot.
I will tell you that I never got so tired of making something as I did those signs. At least they were easy to make. Wood crafts are a lot of fun and you can come up with many ideas for wood signs.
