Blue Jean Apron
You can learn how to make a blue jean apron from those old worn out blue jeans. My sister gave me a bunch of old jeans so that I could make her a quilt out of them. I still had some jeans left so I decided to make her an apron. These jean aprons are very easy to make and are really cute. You can use them in the kitchen or in the garden. You can also make them in less than a day and they make really nice gifts.
The first then you need to do is decide if you want to use the front or the back of the jeans for your blue jean apron. I personally like to use the back with the pockets. All you need to do is cut the sides and then the bottom. You can make it as long as you want.
I curved both corners because that is the look I like but you can leave them square. You can use a little saucer for the pattern and just trace around it and cut them out. Your will need extra wide double fold bias tape in any color you like. I try to match the color of the tape to what I am going to make the tie out of. You could also make your own bias tape out of the material that you are going to use for the tie. You will need to cover the raw edges with the bias tape. I unsewed the top of the wasteband so that the bias tape would be covered and then sewed the band back. It is very easy, all you have to do is take some stitches out and then resew them. It just looks more finished when you do this and it isn't hard to do.
For the tie I cut a piece of fabric 8" X 70". You can make it any size you want.. With the right sides together fold it in half and sew across one end and then along the length of the piece. Turn it right side out and stitch the open end closed. All you have to do now is press and insert it through the belt loops.

I hope these sewing craft help you. If you have one and want to share it please contact me and I will add it here with your name. |
